Thinking Out of Da Box, Raymond Reddington Style

Raymond Reddington2

Greetings Creator, I recently stumbled upon a kick ass t.v. show, “The Blacklist” (you can stream all the episodes on http://www.streamallthis.me) that has inspired me to share, so here goes…

One of my grandest pleasures is being around Smart and Witty; whether it be people, movies, books, conversations, fictional characters, you name it. An agile mind is uber sexy to me and the protagonist, Raymond Reddington on NBC’s hit show, “The Blacklist” (at least I think it’s a hit), is a Canny, Sinister, Macabre Genius who is out-of-the-box cool.

Is he tall, dark and handsome? No, not till he opens his mouth that is, and then with each utterance, each polysyllabic infused phrase, he becomes a more provocative fellow.

One of the reasons I love this show is that it’s written by bright people; they don’t talk/write down to you, they speak to you as an equal, and you can feel the difference immediately. But, enough with my plugging the show and the writers, now I want to take a moment to herald what I think Raymond Reddington’s (Red’s) 2 most Efficacious Habits are and why I want to emulate them:

1. Red is unflappable, composed, so darn self-assured that he doesn’t blink when he finds himself in seemingly un-winnable situations. It’s as though he has an Inner Knowing that he doesn’t need to “lower himself” to the level of his captures, or his chess playing enemy, or whoever! IOW, leave his Palace of Composure on his High Flying Disk to hop down on to the chaotic realm of The Low Flying Disk. He is a Master at deflecting questions he chooses not to answer, at changing the direction and tenor of a conversation, of keeping his equanimity even in the most dire of circumstances.

And yes Darlings, I do know it’s a show and he’s a “fictional” character, but when I see an Adept, a Master with Skills and Raymond Reddington is just that – Ā Masterful at The Art of NOT REACTING, then I’m taking notes!

2. And his second quality that I am keen on inculcating into my day… He observes His World from a loftier vantage point. The plot of the show has him working with the FBI (think uber reality based, up-tight, by the book folks), who he is constantly pressing to think in a non-linear fashion. Sound familiar? He advises his FBI pals that they must step back, change their view, up-level their habitual procedures, their way of doing things.

I love this kind of extended, developed thinking which takes us out of our habitual thought patterns, and thrusts us, head long, upon the stage of our own Expansion and Knowing. We all know what it feels like when we give too much attention to “What Is” leaving us bound up in an ill-fitting reality, with no easy way to find the exit. This is because Low-Flying Disks don’t have the breadth, the vastness, The Universal View that their High Flying Counterparts do.

When we take the pledge to reside mostly in The Upper Quadrant of Emotions on Abraham’s Emotional Guidance Scale…

1 . Joy/Appreciation/Empowered/Freedom/Love
2 . Passion
3 . Enthusiasm/Eagerness/Happiness
4 . Positive Expectation/Belief
5 . Optimism
6 . Hopefulness
7 . Contentment

we find ourselves in The High End of Universal Real Estate. Because when you Vibrate in the High End of Life, you are frolicking in green pastures, taking flying leaps of faith, and feeling the courage to Follow Your Fascination.

Living life in this way, thriving on the Leading-Edge of Your Passion and Desires, is akin to mixing and mingling with The Gods at their level; Penthouse and above! And from there, you can see for miles, and miles, and miles and make clearer decisions, know when it’s time to hold ’em or fold ’em, when the occasion calls for silence, pivoting, ending the call, or any other number of approaches that don’t include reacting from a place devoid of Your Power and Genius.

We leave our Genius on the sidelines when we enter The Game on a Low-Flying Disk. Our co-pilot becomes a bobble-head and we can’t figure out why we never seem to reach our destination of Ease and Flow, trapped in the seemingly endless loop of pooh and frustration. This never happens to Red as he is a sea of calm, and this my friends is what I am striving for, with the knowing that every once in a while, the calm will turn into a squall, from which I shall emerge brighter, more self-assured, more knowing and grander. Not a bad game now is it? Why? ‘Cause we always win, no matter what!

So, what’s the tongue in cheek rave really about? Oh you know, it’s about my favorite Teachers on the Planet, Abraham and how their words can find you no matter where you are…. Engrossed in a T.V. Show, on a billboard, from your kid’s mouth, from the gal in the check out line at Safeway, the barrista at Starbucks, the mailman, a song on the radio, Dr. Seuss, you name it.

Fine-Tuning is an Art, and however you draw your inspiration to more superbly, Deliberately Create is your business. My 16 year old daughter Lily chooses Beyonce as her inspiration. She loves how she does it her way, on her terms, with no regrets. And, who am I to say that isn’t fabulous?

Don’t worry about what or who inspires you to up-level your skills, just be happy your inspired at all! And then get on with your self-imposed assignment of Becoming A Human Being with the Skill Set of The Gods!

Repeat after me Creator… I am The Calm in The Storm, I am the Island Paradise in The Sea of Reality, I am the Bird Song on The Battlefield, I am The Sun on My Face, The Cool Breeze Abaft of Beam, The Salt Spray in The Air, The Cry of The Seagull as I press on, unfettered, unfurled and ready for whatever life has to throw my way!

I’m off now, to test out my Up-Leveled Skills of Calm and Equanimity. I have changed the age old motto of, “What would Buddah do?” to “What would Red do?” HAHAHAHA! I so love the irreverence of this life’s game. Over and Out…~*
